Overview:

A strong combat element of the 6th Panzer Division succeeded in effecting a surprise capture of the two Luga bridges at Porechye, 60 miles southwest of Leningrad, and in forming a bridgehead. The strong armored forces which were to follow remained stuck for days in swampy forest, leaving the bridgehead to fend for itself. Three alerted Proletarian divisions and armored units were dispatched from Leningrad with the mission of cutting off the bridgehead and destroying the German forces. With only a small number of forces to man the long flanks of the bridgehead, it was impossible for the Germans to prevent the mass assaults. Nevertheless, the attacks were expected and the defenses arranged accordingly, with two tank units reinforced with armored infantry held in readiness.

2022-03-12(D) Rich Weiley vs Dave Wallace German winIs this the best German 1941 OB ever? They have an embarrassment of riches. My opponent conceded on turn 4 as the German reinforcements were set to motor the the length of board 42 to secure the eastern village which was the only point even vaguely under threat. Unfortunately not much positive to say about this scenario (stellar OB notwithstanding) - other than I didn't select it!
2020-04-27(A) Jeff B vs Tom Mueller German win10.5 hrsRussians were lucky Turn 1, knocking out a HT loaded with an AE/FT/DC, but they will need to be lucky for all 9 Turns, while the Germans are unlucky, to stand even a sniff of a chance. One of those lame scenarios where one side can completely just overwhelm the other with vehicles that can't be stopped. My Human Waving reinforcements took out a Meat Chopper Turn 3, but this would be one of the last bits of fun I would have, since his excessive horde of vehicles came on the next turn. I knew going into this the Russians didn't stand a chance, but thought it could be fun anyway. I thought the Balance of raising the Russian ELR would be too much, but in reality it is probably fair. I would recommend trying it with that if you choose to play. I had enough disrupting conscripts and overruns by the middle of Turn 6 to throw in the towel, despite a couple tanks breaking through and my planes set to arrive.
