Overview:

Task Force McGeorge departed the Spa area at about 0800 on the 20th, its mission to proceed to La Gleize. Moving south, it arrived at Borgoumont around noon, where it linked up with Company K of the 117th Infantry and the 1st and 2nd Platoons of Company A, 743rd Tank Battalion, which had taken up positions in the hamlet earlier in the day. After being informed by civilians of known German positions ahead, the Task Force and Company K advanced slowly in the thick mist down the main road to La Gleize.

2023-05-05(D) Andy Goldin vs Chuck TewksburyA German (SS) winAn effectively conducted ambush and a 75L on a rate tear (thanks to some hot dice) won me this game.
Chuck moved cautiously, using plenty of smoke and infantry to flank the hamlet of stone buildings from which I defended the town. The majority of his armor infantry moved along a broad front, with the infantry in the woods and the tanks primarily along the road. My MG fire casualty reduced a squad and broke a couple others.
Nonetheless, by Turn 2, Chuck was closing on the town. I got nervous when I fired my PF on a decent shot at a Sherman on the road, but malf'd it. Hmm.
The hardest part of a successful ambush is knowing when to spring it. With Shermans all around, I figured that was the time, so I put my up-until-then HIP ATG into action. My first shot on the nearest Sherman was a critical hit, leaving the vehicle in flames. Now I had to change my CA to shoot at another nearby Sherman, which I selected because it had Prep'd but not moved, making it an easier target. I scored another hit with rate, barely knocking it out. My third shot on another nearby, stationary Sherman also scored a turret hit, knocking it out as well.
At this point I was only a couple points away from the CVP cap (already having eliminated a squad and his 8-1 leader in CC in the previous turn), and Chuck conceded on his Turn 2.
In my opinion, this scenario needs a higher CVP to give the Americans a better chance at winning.
2021-02-16(A) Simon Staniforth vs German (SS) winUS loss on CVP. A Sherman76 fell immediately to the ATG. German SAN is 5 and it took out 2 of the 3 US leaders. No luck with CC. Half tracks proved easy prey as they tried to manoeuvre round to create encircling opportunities / cut rout paths.
